Zu den prominenten Tiroler Fasnachtsbräuchen gehört alle vier bis fünf Jahre der sogenannte Mullerlauf in Thaur, eine Art Perchtenlauf. In den MARTHA-Dörfern (Mühlau, Arzl, Rum, Thaur, Absam), die auch als Ursprung für diesen Brauch gelten, ist da Mullen oder Matschgern ein früher Höhepunkt im Jahreskreis. Im Jänner und Februar spricht das ganze Dorf nur mehr von Fasnacht.
