A Century in Stone: The Eston and California Story
2004
A Century in Stone is a 2004 documentary film depicting the rise of Eston's iron and steel industry.[1]
It is 118 minutes long and the project was funded by the first £75,000 fellowship award from NESTA that was awarded in the north-east.[2][3]
Launched in 2004, "A Century in Stone" attracted over four-thousand people to clubs and halls across Teesside before becoming the first local film to be shown at a Teesside multiplex. In its first week, it outsold Hollywood competition to become the Xmas 2004 VHS/DVD bestseller in Teesside.
The film toured Australia in 2005, screening in various towns, and beneath the Sydney Harbour Bridge, which had been made in Teesside.[4]
